Heavenly or Sacred Bamboo

Nandina domestica Pygmaea

A tidy compact small evergreen shrub for a warm corner in your garden. Introduced from China in the early 1800's this Bamboo like plant is not a Bamboo at all.

In the Pygmaea form the leaves are closely packed to make a compact rounded bush. Light green in summer and unusual for an evergreen shrub turning to brilliant orange/scarlet in autumn. The best colour is obtained when this shrub is planted in a hot sunny garden. A low hedge of Nandina can look very attractive especially in winter when the bright colours of the leaves are very much appreciated. Group planting and in containers is also a good way to use this versatile shrub. We have plants ready for your garden now.
